KZ2 Shifter Kart race 101:
- Start
- Send it
- Survive (Optional)
It was the final, I was starting P13 out of 59 high-level KZ2 drivers. I got pushed off track at the start and, after getting back in, I got hit by a driver on the outside.
I couldn't brake later, the combination of new rear tyres and dirt means zero grip, so I got in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Bad luck I guess

My kart's wrecked, if you want you can contribute for the rebuild

I'm back.
I came to this race with zero testing and almost 6 months of stop from racing.
We struggled a lot with the chassis' setup but I gave it all I had and it wasn't bad at all. I'm all rusty but the speed was still kinda there
After this heat I secured my P13 starting position in the final out of a 59 entry list of KZ2 drivers. It's always great to race in these high level races, everyone was training for the upcoming WSK Super Master Series international race, but I was just there for scraping away some rust.
I have big news incoming for the next race tho, I'm very busy with work but I'm doing everything I can to follow my dreams.

This POV Onboard was recorded using an insta360 GO3 at the Trofeo Primavera race in South Garda Karting (Lonato, BS - Italy), on my 125cc 2 stroke shifter kart (6 speeds):
- Chassis: Birel ART S15 KZ
- Engine: TM Kart KZ-R2 by MORONI RACING
- Tyres: Vega XM4 (White)
- Telemetry: AIM Mychron 5S 2T
- Radiator: KE Technology PLUS 290mm Double
Category: KZ2
And I can't say I didn't enjoy it
These were a couple of my first ever laps on a formula car, which is the Formula Predator PC010 of @academyforwinners
It's totally different from a Kart, especially because you must be a lot less aggressive and more progressive in almost every phase of the corner.
I don't know if I'll ever race with one of these, but it'd be fun indeed.
Car: Formula Predator PC-010
Track: Circuito Internazionale del Volturno
It happened🤷‍♂️
I tried a different Chassis for the first time and it felt really good!
The brakes are super strong and the front is very responsive, so you can be very aggressive while staying smooth and fast.
This was just a test for a video with the Intrepid Official Team, it was the last session of the day with finished lecont tyres and super hot weather.
Enjoy
Chassis: Intrepid KZ
Engine: TM RACING KZ-R2
Tyres: Lecont
Track: South Garda Karting in Lonato del Garda - Italy
It wasn't the best one, but it was a fun one for sure.
I came back from p16 to p10 with a couple hard passes, but there's still room for improvement in the race tactics.
We had some speed tho, fastest lap of the grid in this session
Track: South Garda Karting in Lonato (BS) Italy
KZ2 Kart Chassis: Birel art S15
Shifter kart Engine: TM Kart KZ-R2 by 100% Kartissimo - Renato Andreoli
Radiator: KE Technology PLUS 290mm Double
It was my first race with this KE Radiator and it's been a great choice, super happy with the performances.
Close racing with a compromised start and an unexpected final.
Definitely not my luckiest weekend...

so yeah I broke my hand at the first lap for a crash, but I decided to go on with the race and I completed my prefinal. I couldn't take part in the final tho, it's a shame because it was a good experience so far.
I did a DNS manche with 26 points, so I had to start all the way to the back of the grid in the prefinal (31st / 36 drivers grid, 54 total in KZ2).
Back to the crash, there was another crash ahead, at the inside of the chicane, so I went for the outside line to avoid and pass the crashed drivers.
But the driver behind me hits the brakes too late, so he hits me and goes to take a hike around the south garda green hills. I somehow managed to get the kart back on track and resume my race, but I broke my scaphoid and now it hurts like hell.
Still, it was super fun and I can't wait to get back at it again after rehab.

Diving into the Wet Unknown🌧️
My first-ever KZ2 race in the rain at Trofeo delle Industrie 2023 was a rollercoaster of emotions. Battling it out on the soaked asphalt of South Garda Karting, I faced the ultimate challenge against some of the most seasoned competitors.
Starting behind the 5-time World Champion added an extra layer of intensity. The rain-drenched track demanded every ounce of skill, and despite my limited wet-track experience, I could race amongst the pros and keep the pace.
As the laps unfolded, the struggle intensified. With raindrops and fog covering my visor, visibility became a real issue.
Blindly navigating the twists and turns, the battle turned into a test of instincts and reflexes.
It's been a fun one tho

Chasing a KZ2 is mad challenging, because the rok shifter is a bit less powerful on the higher end of the RPM, but if you persist just enough then you can just send it.
I enjoy drivin' around this track a lot tho, you gotta be super clean to mantain the speed through the corners. Yet it's a bit difficult to pass there, because on the shifters you can go on a defensive interior line without losing much time.
